Thank you for your patience and understanding as we recently transitioned to a new volunteer sign-up system without prior notice. We recognize that this unexpected change may have caused confusion, inconvenience,(and happiness). We truly appreciate your flexibility and continued support throughout the process. SJC UPDATES:

NEW VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT SHEEHAN:
1. Community Support Volunteers (“Floaters”)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2 hours shifts throughout the day
These volunteers will support general community needs and may:
- Sort and distribute donations
- Assist clients with quick errands or social needs
- Organize and restock the kitchenette
- Set up games and activities in the community room and courtyard
2. Morning Meal Volunteers (“Breakfast Runners”)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00–10:00 a.m.
Responsibilities include:
- Picking up breakfast items from Dare to Care
- Setting up a continental breakfast in the conference room
- Supporting coffee service and light food distribution
3. Pantry Supply Volunteers (“Pantry Runners”)
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-2p.m.
Duties include:
- Picking up building-wide food supplies from Dare to Care
- Restocking and organizing pantry supplies
4. Pantry Distribution Volunteers (“Pantry Hosts”)
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
These volunteers will assist in:
- Organizing the pantry
- Distributing food and supplies to residents

We are actively recruiting juniors/seniors in high school and seniors ages 65+ who are established and emerging community leaders to serve on our Senior Council Advisory Board. Humana Foundation Council members must live in one of our target geographies of Florida, Kentucky (Louisville), Louisiana or Texas. The Senior Council is a voluntary group of 8-10 members – seniors 65+, juniors/seniors in high school and a Humana associate – who have input in creating unique experiences that bring the Foundation’s health equity mission to life.
Please direct recommended students or seniors to the online application. We’ve set a goal to receive all final online applications by Friday, May 30.

**Refresher Course**
Phone:
When answering the phone, please say, “St. John Center, how can I help you?”
To manage the call, place the caller on hold with the red “Hold” button, use the microphone to page the guest, repeat if necessary, and when they arrive, press RESUME, then TRANSFER to dial 125 or 116. After transferring, if no response was received, inform the caller discreetly and offer to take a message with the guest’s details noted as “phone message” in the sign-in/client book. Distribute in-kind donations like socks, underwear, and ponchos to clients, but refrain from giving out clothing at the front desk; if a client requires emergency clothing, especially due to biohazards or exposure to the elements, please get a staff member for assistance.
